Our Gypsy Cob Herd
"Lexington", registered with the Gypsy Cob Society of America as BoHo's Cold Fusion, is a black and white (piebald or pinto/tobiano) colt born in 2006. His mom was imported by Black Forest Shires and Gypsy Horses, and while in quarantine in Lexington, Kentucky this good mare produced a wonderful small colt who seemed to want to stay small and is still around 13 hands tall. His outstanding feature physically is that he is what is known as a "tight cob", having a short back and exceptionally good topline and rear. He has a very draught-style head that is slightly convex yet of good eye appeal, with that very kind eye and temperament famous in the horses of the Romany people. His face is topped off in winter with a stylish moustache. But we enjoy his gentle temperament the most!
Now visit YouTube and see Lexington's mom, Lexus AKA "A Style All Her Own", in action as the lead mare in the California ranch herd R-Gypsies' six-horse hitch!

Lex-luvin':

We believe that gypsy cobs and ponies have a bright future in Combined Driving Events--and just wait until you see an awesome pony hitch at a future draft horse show! They make awesome family horses allowing first time foal raising owners and older folks as well as families with children a chance to take a huge part in hands-on raising their own dream horse:)--the great risk is for creating spoiled brats and health issues due to over-feeding! Many will want to show their beloved pets in the future; these ponies are perfect for ride and drive disciplines. Their calm nature will make them preferred for trail riding. They make an awesome all around horse and allow the public to do what they want with them whether shooting for that blue ribbon or just for fun:) Their temperaments and beauty is striking, versatility speaks a million words--my pictures do my horses no justice but the proof is in the pudding! they are just becoming mature enough to get out there and show the World what they are all about!
Here we go with a couple photos from summer 2009:

Bellbottom Truffles is a wonderful black "proper cob" from the lineage of the Old Black Horse, her sire being Royal --
check out his video:
(WOW!)
Royal also has an interesting link/page on Black Forest's list of sold horses, which shows him as a youngster. Truffles is out of the beautiful mare"Cassie" (owned by Grace Ranch) AKA Penny, one of the nicest mares imported by Black Forest. Cassie is pictured in her home field in Britain with Babydoll on Black Forest's website homepage (
www.gypsyhorses.com/) and has a page also herself as "Penny" on Black Forest's list of mares sold.

We plan for both Lexington and Truffles to be competing in draft pony harness classes in the future. Truffles is destined to prove what real "motoring" is, just as her mom has.
Truffles is a hairy girl with a double mane!

Arctic Spring is our third special gypsy horse, a mini-vanner and our biggest "gipsy queen" at about 14 hands. Spring has started training focused on future dressage work and jumping. Spring had a wonderful colt in 2009 sired by Lexington. Spring's photo album is at
Spring loves to be scratched.

We are also very proud of our Baby's Doll, Q.T. Pony and Puddinface (photos here from 2008 herd shots, in front), all sired by the fabulous Toymakker (see him at
